Ella Burakowski

Some may know me as Ask Ella, the advice columnist in The Canadian Jewish News, but there is more to my thoughts than doling out advice.

I’m also the author of Hidden Gold-A True Story of the Holocaust, a story based on my mother and her family’s experiences through the war. Although Hidden Gold is non-fiction, it’s a page-turning thriller and will leave you breathless every step of the way.

Hidden Gold was a finalist in the Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading – Red Maple non-fiction category for 2017. Over 270,000 students across Ontario helped choose the winners.

Written with a young adult audience in mind, it’s suitable for age 14 through to adult, in fact The Christian Science Monitor chose Hidden Gold as 1 of 10 young adult books worthy of adult readers. Hidden Gold is packed with action, history, love and emotion. It was sold out of its first printing in only 3 months and is now into its second printing.

When I’m not writing, I love listening to audio books, writing, walking, and hanging with my hubby of 31 years. I work for him too, he is the Broker/Owner of Marshall Real Estate Ltd. and I am his bookkeeper, his graphic designer and his favorite sounding board.
